A prolific London-based designer and creator of many one-off pieces in innovative materials. His work has been widely featured. Born 1951.

Konstantin Grcic
Adaptable and recipient of many awards for his often minimalist designs. Born in Germany in 1965 and trained in London.

Rene Holten
Netherlands born and trained, now one of Holland's leading designers, focusing on household products. Born 1961.

James Irvine
A graduate of Kingston Design School, but now based in Milan, his projects range from furniture to Hanover's city bus.

Jasper Morrison
Born in 1959 and another leading designer trained at Kingston, his many successful designs include the iconic Air Chair.

Patrick Norguet
A draughtsman from his French training and still a technical designer. One of an emerging generation of young international designers.

Pierre Paulin
Revered as one of the most influential French designers of the 20th Century with many chairs still in production 50 years after their design. Born 1927.

Jorge Pensi
Working both in furniture and industrial design, he made his name from his base in Barcelona. Winner of numerous design awards, he was born in Argentina in 1946.

Karim Rashid
A global Industrial Designer, with more than 1000 products to his name, a number now in the permanent collections of international design collections.

Philippe Starck
Probably the world's highest-profile designer, with a seemingly endless list of successful and distinctive products in a wide range of fields, from motorbikes to restaurant interiors. His is the Louis Ghost transparent chair. Born in Paris in 1949.
